Workshops

Put consequential strategic decisions into the room

Futures Land workshops are intensive leadership engagements designed for decisions that benefit from being examined collectively, under conditions wider than the organisation’s current planning assumptions.

They bring a small senior group together around a defined strategic question, a company-specific context and a set of materially different future conditions. The purpose is to improve strategic judgement: to surface assumptions, expose dependencies, compare possible responses and create a shared understanding of where action, flexibility or further investigation may be valuable.

Format

Designed for a small group with real decision authority

Most workshops are designed for 3–5 participants and run for approximately 4–7 hours, depending upon scope and the strategic question being examined.

The strongest sessions involve people who hold different perspectives on the same decision: strategy, technology, commercial direction, investment, organisational capability or another dimension relevant to the issue.

Company-specific foresight

The workshop begins with the strategic question and the company context

A Futures Land workshop is prepared around the company, the issue leadership needs to examine and the external changes that could materially affect it.

Depending on the engagement, the discussion may concentrate on:

A particular strategic commitmentTechnology transitionMarket shiftInvestmentBusiness-model questionLonger-term direction

Strategy Stress-Test Workshop

Test a current strategy against futures in which its assumptions may change

A concentrated leadership session for examining how an existing strategy, major initiative or consequential decision performs under materially different external conditions.

The workshop helps the group identify where strategic logic remains strong, where important choices depend upon particular assumptions, where flexibility deserves protection, and which developments could materially change the attractiveness or timing of a decision.

AI3–5 senior leadersApproximately 4–7 hours

AI Strategy Stress-Test Workshop

Examine how different AI futures could change the logic of your strategy

AI is altering capabilities, costs, expertise, customer interfaces, competitive structures and organisational design at different speeds across industries.

The AI Strategy Stress-Test Workshop concentrates the discussion on what those changes could mean for the company’s current direction and major decisions. Leadership examines where existing assumptions appear durable, where exposure may be increasing, which strategic options deserve preparation, and how the organisation’s position could change under materially different AI conditions.

How it works

The appropriate workshop depends upon what leadership needs to understand

A first conversation

An initial conversation establishes the strategic question, the decisions connected to it, the people who should participate and the depth of preparation required.

Preparation

Preparation is completed before the session so that the workshop can concentrate on the questions that matter. The preparation allows workshop time to be used for strategic reasoning rather than introductory trend presentation.

The session

Participants enter a structured discussion in which different future conditions can challenge current assumptions and reveal choices that deserve closer attention.

Workshops deck

Futures Land can provide a fuller workshop description and engagement deck for organisations considering whether the format is appropriate.

The detailed workshop methodology and facilitation architecture are shared with prospective clients at the appropriate stage.

Request the deck

When the question stays exposed to change after the engagement, Ongoing Foresight Intelligence keeps the key developments and assumptions under observation and returns to the analysis as conditions evolve.

Discuss a workshop

Which strategic question would benefit from being tested collectively before the organisation commits further?

A first conversation can establish whether the question is suited to a workshop, a Strategy Stress Test, a focused foresight investigation or a deeper programme.
